Kegel balls are weighted inserts used to give the pelvic floor something to hold. Unlike silent Ben Wa spheres, many Kegel sets are sold with a clear training angle: start light, wear while doing chores, move to a heavier pair as the muscles stop noticing.
A cord is not optional. You want to remove them without a performance. Some pairs click together magnetically. Wash the join. Sand that hides in a magnet well will scratch next time.
They are a tool, not a trophy. If a clinician has you on a pelvic-floor program, follow that plan. Overworking already tense muscles can worsen pain. If bearing down hurts or you leak more rather than less, stop and get advice instead of buying a heavier set.
Practice
- Ten to twenty minutes is plenty at first.
- Stand and walk; lying down does little.
- Remove before a long sleep.
- Do not wear during a urinary tract infection.
