🦠 Viral Marketing

Marketing that encourages people to share a message rapidly through networks.

Viral Marketing

Viral marketing tries to make sharing the primary distribution channel. Instead of paying for every impression, the brand creates something people want to pass along. A funny video, a surprising stunt, a useful tool. If it spreads, the cost per view collapses.

Nobody can guarantee virality. Plenty of expensive campaigns disappear without a trace while a homemade clip reaches millions overnight. What brands can do is lower the friction: make content short, emotional, and easy to share.

What tends to spread

The downside is control. Once something spreads, the brand cannot steer the conversation. A campaign meant to be playful can be read as offensive, and the audience decides which version wins.
