🧩 Ad Recall

The ability of viewers to remember an advertisement after seeing it.

Ad Recall

Ad recall measures memory. Show a campaign, wait, then ask people whether they remember seeing it. The answers are messy because memory is messy, but the pattern still tells you whether a message landed.

Researchers usually test two things. Unaided recall asks people to name brands they saw without prompts. Aided recall shows a logo or still frame and asks if it looks familiar. Unaided scores are harder to earn and more meaningful.

What drives recall

High recall does not guarantee sales. A memorable ad for the wrong product, or one that people remember but dislike, can still fail. Recall is a diagnostic, not a verdict.
