💬 Feedback

Input from users or stakeholders used to refine a design.

Feedback

Feedback is input from users or stakeholders used to refine a design. It can come from usability tests, client reviews, support tickets, or casual comments. The point is to learn what works and what does not before the product ships. Good feedback is specific. A user saying I got confused here is more useful than I do not like it. A client saying the logo needs to work at small sizes is more actionable than make it bigger.

Collecting feedback is one thing. Acting on it is another. Designers have to weigh competing opinions, separate signal from noise, and decide what to change. Not all feedback is equally valid. A single loud complaint may not represent the broader user base. At the same time, ignoring feedback leads to products that serve the team's assumptions rather than real needs. The best process combines qualitative comments with quantitative data. A drop-off in a signup flow shows where users leave. Interviews explain why.

Sources of feedback

Feedback is not a verdict. It is information. The designer still has to decide what it means and what to do about it.
