比衝

在太空，燃料效率比在其他地方都重要。比衝衡量火箭將推進劑轉換為推力的效率，以秒為單位。比衝越高，意味著在消耗相同燃料的情況下，火箭能獲得更大的速度變化。

此指標是將排氣速度除以標準重力加速度得出的。煤油火箭的持續時間約為350秒。氫燃料引擎可達450秒。電推進器超過3000秒，但它們在長時間內產生的推力很小。

更高的比衝並非總是最佳選擇。電推進器改變軌道需要數月時間，這對載人發射來說毫無意義。任務規劃人員需要在效率、時間和推力需求之間取得平衡。

    Specific impulse is basically the fuel efficiency of a rocket engine. Higher Isp means more thrust per unit of propellant.

    Expressed in seconds which seems odd for an efficiency measure. But that's the convention.

    The article is clear but I wish it compared chemical and ion engines. The Isp difference is enormous.
