📥 Recruitment

The process of attracting and selecting candidates for jobs.

Recruitment

Empty roles constrain everything downstream. Recruitment is the process of attracting, screening, and selecting candidates to fill job vacancies.

It begins with a clear role definition and continues through sourcing, interviewing, assessment, offer, and acceptance. Employer brand, speed, and candidate experience influence success in competitive labor markets. Internal mobility and external hiring both play roles.

Poor recruitment loads the organization with skill gaps or cultural mismatches that performance management later struggles to fix. Structured interviews and relevant assessments improve prediction of success. Measuring time-to-fill, quality-of-hire, and source effectiveness keeps the process honest.

Recruitment is as much about selling the company to candidates as it is about screening them. Good candidates have options.

The best recruitment I've seen focuses on culture fit as much as skills. You can teach skills but you can't teach attitude.

Is recruitment the same as hiring? Recruitment is finding candidates, hiring is selecting and onboarding them.
