Copywriting is writing that sells. Not fiction, not journalism, not poetry, though it borrows from all three. The job is to move a reader toward a decision using words that are clear, specific, and persuasive.
Good copy starts with research. Who is the reader? What do they already believe? What objection stops them from acting? Answer those questions and the draft writes itself faster than most people expect.
Where copy appears
- Headlines and body text in ads
- Email subject lines and messages
- Landing pages and product descriptions
- Scripts for video and radio
Strong copywriters cut ruthlessly. Every sentence earns its place or gets deleted. The final version often looks effortless, which hides how much was removed.
