🎯 Javelin

An event where athletes throw a spear for distance.

Javelin

An athlete sprints down a runway, plants the front foot, and launches a spear-like implement into the air. That event is the javelin throw. Distance is measured from the foul line to the first point of contact in the sector.

The javelin must land tip-first to be valid. Modern specifications control weight, length, and center of gravity to keep throws within stadium limits. Technique involves a rhythmic approach, a cross-step transition, and a powerful delivery that transfers run-up speed into the implement. The throwing arm and braced front leg absorb large forces.

Training develops speed, specific strength, and the complex coordination of the delivery. Injuries to the shoulder and elbow are occupational hazards if technique or load management slips. At elite level the javelin produces some of the most spectacular distances in field events.
