🎯 Coordination

The ability to use different body parts together smoothly.

Coordination

A tennis player times a run to the ball, sets the feet, and executes a clean forehand in one continuous sequence. That smooth integration of movement is coordination. It allows different body parts to work together efficiently.

Hand-eye, foot-eye, and bilateral coordination appear in almost every sport. Developing them involves repetitive practice of sport-specific patterns plus general exercises that challenge timing and accuracy. Children often improve coordination rapidly through varied play; adults can still refine it with deliberate drills.

Poor coordination wastes energy and limits skill expression. Good coordination makes complex techniques look simple. Coaches watch for it as a marker of athletic potential and as a quality that can be trained at any age.
