Blended learning mixes online instruction with face-to-face teaching. It is not just technology in the classroom. The online portion replaces some in-person time, and the two modes work together. A student might watch a lecture video at home, then come to class for discussion and problem-solving.
Models vary. In rotation models, students move between stations, some digital and some teacher-led. In flex models, most instruction is online, with the teacher available for support. In enriched virtual models, students meet in person rarely, often for labs or check-ins.
The approach works best when the technology serves a clear purpose. A video that simply records a lecture is less effective than one that pauses for questions or adapts to student responses. Teachers need training, and students need reliable internet access. Without those, blended learning can widen gaps instead of closing them.
