船舶从船头到船尾的最大长度。

最长尺寸决定了停泊和运河的限界。总长是指船舶从船首最前端到船尾最后端的最大长度，包括突出部分。

总长与垂线长度和水线长度不同，后者用于静水力学计算。港口泊位、船闸和造船厂都对总长有限制。超过限制的船舶无论其他尺寸如何，都不得进入。

设计师和操作人员在规划特定工种的新船建造时，都会关注船体总长度。即使是像球鼻艏或船尾平台这样的小型延伸部分，也会影响测量的总长度，进而影响作业通道。

Is LOA measured including bowsprits and swim platforms or just the hull?
