🏹 Archery

The sport of shooting arrows with a bow.

Archery

An archer draws a bowstring to the cheek, steadies the aim, and releases an arrow toward a distant target. That disciplined practice is archery. Accuracy depends on consistent form, calm breathing, and precise timing.

Modern competitive archery uses recurve or compound bows and standardized targets. Olympic competition features the recurve bow at 70 meters. Archers score by landing arrows in concentric rings, the center worth the most points. The sport demands upper-body strength, shoulder stability, and mental focus under pressure.

Training includes technical repetition, strength work, and simulated competition pressure. Equipment choices—bow weight, arrow spine, sight settings—are highly individual. Outdoor rounds introduce wind and light changes that test adaptability. Indoor events remove those variables and emphasize pure execution.
