Television commercials still command attention in a way most digital formats cannot. A thirty-second spot interrupts the programming, plays at full volume, and reaches millions of households at once. No scrolling past, no ad blocker, at least not yet in most living rooms.
Production values are high because the stakes are high. A national campaign can cost millions to make and millions more to air. The craft shows. Cinematography, sound design, and editing in top-tier commercials rival short films.
Standard commercial lengths
- Fifteen seconds for reminders and promotions
- Thirty seconds, the industry default
- Sixty seconds for storytelling and launches
- Longer formats for infomercials and brand films
Viewing habits shifted with streaming. Ad-supported tiers still deliver mass audiences, but attention is more fragmented than the broadcast era.
