Missionary is face-to-face sex with one partner on their back and the other between their legs. It is common because it is simple, close, and easy to kiss in. It is not mandatory and it is not automatically boring. Angle and pace decide more than the name.

A pillow under the hips can aim pressure toward the front vaginal wall. Legs wrapped around a back change depth. Weight on a chest can be intimate or smothering; ask. The partner on the bottom has less range to steer, which is why some people like it and some people do not.

Clitoral contact is hit-or-miss unless a hand or a toy fills the gap. Filling that gap is allowed. Tradition does not ban it.
