写作（S）是指撰写文本以交流思想的活动。

写作

写作是将文字写在纸上、屏幕上或墙上，以此来传达某种信息。它看似孤独，实则具有社交性。每一篇文字都预设着读者，即便这个读者只有作者本人。购物清单、情书、法律文书和小说，都具有相同的基本动机：将思想具象化。

创作过程很少是线性的。作家们会进行头脑风暴、撰写草稿、删减、重组，然后重新开始。初稿几乎从来都不是完美的，而且它也本来就不是为了追求完美。真正的创作在于修改。专业人士的修改次数比业余人士多得多。他们深知初稿只是素材。

写作也是一项可以迁移的技能。经常写作的学生能够学会组织思路、发现论证中的薄弱环节并考虑其他观点。即使在技术领域，雇主也将写作能力列为最受青睐的技能之一。工程师撰写报告，护士绘制图表，经理撰写电子邮件。写作质量直接影响着工作的评价。
