🫂 Aftercare

Emotional and physical support given after intense sexual or BDSM activity.

Aftercare

Aftercare is the quiet work that starts when the scene or the sex ends. Someone fetches water. A blanket goes over bare shoulders. A partner checks marks, mood, and blood sugar. The point is to bring a body and a nervous system back to everyday speed after intensity.

BDSM communities treat aftercare as part of the scene, not an optional courtesy. Subdrop and topdrop are real crashes: shaky hands, sudden tears, a flat mood the next afternoon. Soft talk, food, and a plan for who texts whom in the morning prevent a lot of that. Vanilla sex can need the same thing after a raw argument-and-makeup night or a first time that ran hotter than expected.

What counts as aftercare is personal. One person wants silence and a shower. Another wants a recap of what worked. Negotiate it before anyone is floating. If you play with strangers, agree on a minimum: water, a way home, and a check-in window.
