📦 Volume

The amount of space occupied by a three-dimensional object.

Volume

Volume measures how much space a 3D object occupies. A cube's volume is s³. A rectangular box is length × width × height. A sphere is (4/3)πr³. A cylinder is πr²h. Units are cubic: cubic meters, cubic feet, liters.

Volume is measured directly by displacement—submerging an object in water and measuring the overflow—or calculated from dimensions. Archimedes supposedly discovered the displacement method while taking a bath, then ran through the streets shouting "Eureka!"

Volume matters in shipping, cooking, chemistry, and engineering. Cargo ships measure capacity in cubic meters or TEU. Recipes measure ingredients in milliliters and cups. Chemists measure liquids in graduated cylinders. The concept is simple but essential across many fields.
