🏠 Greenhouse

A glass or plastic structure for growing plants in controlled conditions.

Greenhouse

A greenhouse creates a controlled environment that extends the growing season and protects tender plants. Its transparent walls and roof—glass or plastic—admit light while trapping heat. Ventilation, shading, and sometimes heating systems allow the gardener to adjust temperature and humidity.

Structures range from small freestanding units to large commercial glasshouses. Inside, benches hold pots, and paths provide access. Many gardeners use a greenhouse for starting seeds early, overwintering tender perennials, or growing crops that need more warmth than the outdoor climate provides.

Management is continuous. On sunny days the interior can overheat quickly; on cold nights heat escapes. Automatic vents and shade cloth help, yet daily attention remains important. A well-run greenhouse becomes a productive workspace that multiplies what a garden can yield.
