➡️ Direct Flight

A flight with a single flight number from origin to destination.

Direct Flight

A flight keeps the same flight number from origin to final destination even if the aircraft stops en route to board or disembark other passengers. That service is a direct flight. It differs from a nonstop flight, which does not land until the final airport.

Passengers usually remain on board during intermediate stops, though this is not always required. Total travel time is longer than a true nonstop but may still be preferable to changing aircraft. Marketing language sometimes blurs the distinction, so careful reading of itineraries is wise.

Direct flights with stops are less common than they once were as airlines favor hub connections or true nonstops on busy routes. When they exist, they can offer convenient links between secondary cities. Baggage is typically checked through to the final destination.
