Covering a wide area with water by hand is time-consuming. A sprinkler is a device that sprays water outward in a pattern to irrigate lawns and beds. Oscillating, rotating, and stationary models suit different shapes and sizes of planting areas.
Sprinklers connect to a hose and operate under normal household water pressure. Coverage depends on water pressure, nozzle design, and placement. Overlap patterns slightly to avoid dry spots. Watering early in the day reduces evaporation and fungal risk.
Not every plant benefits from overhead water. Foliage that stays wet can encourage disease; drip or soaker systems deliver water more precisely to the root zone. For lawns and large informal plantings, however, a well-chosen sprinkler remains a practical solution. Timers add convenience and help avoid overwatering.
