Material is the substance from which a craft object is made. It is the raw stuff. It is the beginning. It is the clay, the wood, the metal, the fiber, the glass, the leather. The material is the same.

Materials come in many forms. Natural materials come from plants, animals, and minerals. Synthetic materials come from chemicals. Each has its own properties. Each has its own craft. The material is the type. The type is the material. The material is the same.

Materials must be chosen. The craftsperson chooses the material. The craftsperson respects the material. The craftsperson transforms the material. The material is the craft. The craft is the material. The material is the same. The same is the maker. The maker is the material. The material is the maker. The material is the same. The same is the object. The object is the material. The material is the object. The material is the same.
