Grace is unmerited favor freely given by God to humanity. It is a gift. It is not earned. It is not deserved. It is not a reward. It is God's kindness to sinners. It is God's love to the undeserving. It is God's mercy to the guilty. Grace is the heart of the gospel. It is the foundation of salvation. It is the reason for hope. It is the source of joy. It is the power for living. It is the beauty of holiness. It is the mystery of love.
Grace is central to the Christian faith. We are saved by grace through faith. It is not our own doing. It is the gift of God. Not by works, so that no one can boast. That is Ephesians 2:8-9. Grace excludes boasting. Grace excludes pride. Grace excludes self-righteousness. Grace includes humility. Grace includes gratitude. Grace includes love. Grace is the opposite of karma. Karma says you get what you deserve. Grace says you get what you do not deserve. Karma says justice. Grace says mercy. Karma says earning. Grace says receiving. Karma says fear. Grace says peace.
Grace in scripture
- Ephesians 2:8: saved by grace through faith.
- Romans 5:20: where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.
- Titus 2:11: the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation.
- 2 Corinthians 12:9: my grace is sufficient for you.
- John 1:16: from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
Grace is amazing. It saves. It transforms. It empowers. It comforts. It challenges. It is free. But it is not cheap. It cost Christ his life. It cost God his Son. Grace is free to us. It was not free for him. That is the scandal. That is the glory. That is the gospel. Grace is the gift. Grace is the call. Grace is the life. Grace is the way. Grace is the truth. Grace is the love. Grace is the peace. Grace is the joy. Grace is the hope. Grace is the salvation. Grace is grace.
