📺 Broadcast Journalism

News reporting delivered via television or radio.

Broadcast Journalism

Not every story arrives on paper or screen as text. Broadcast journalism is the practice of gathering, writing, and delivering news through television and radio, using sound, images, and spoken word.

Broadcast reporters write for the ear and the eye. Scripts are shorter, sentences more direct, and visuals or natural sound carry part of the narrative load. Live capability allows immediate transmission from the scene, but it also reduces the time available for verification.

The craft includes package reporting, live shots, studio anchoring, and increasingly digital video versions of the same work. Audience trust still hinges on accuracy and fairness, regardless of the delivery technology. Many of the profession’s most memorable moments have been broadcast as they happened.
